I know this isn't a popular idea for techs who believe an amps original design is biblical and any changes at all are sacrilage, but give some of us a break I say! Thing is, when multi value can capacitors are used they cause ground noise problems most of the time. This is due to the multiple capacitances within a single can are sharing one single ground. So if the individual capacitances are filtering different sections of the amp and they are all sharing the same negative ground terminal, this contributes greatly to ground loop problems and the associated & annoying ground hum that goes with it... Distributed filtering is my preferred method using individual capacitors. CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN!

Magnavox era SVT that came into my shop. It said V9 on the back of the power amp chassis, yet on the Pre-amp chassis it said SVT... So it seems that Magnavox Used the same chassis for V9's and SVT's.. It was in terrible shape to say the least. It was filled with mud and various unidentifiable debris. I found several clumps of biological matter that looked like decomposing yellow jackets. Maybe bee's or Hornets! Hard to say but it could easily have been a nest as it was sitting in the owners garage for ten years he said.
